Cinema Review #40: Avengers: Endgame (2019)

So, its finally here, what the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been building to, the most anticipated film of the year: Avengers: Endgame. This review is spoiler-free, just as an early warning. Endgame begins with the characters who survived Infinity War attempting to come to terms with the events of the end of the last film and find some way to bring them back and defeat Thanos once and for all.

Clocking in at just over three hours, Endgame is the longest instalment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and it does not disappoint. I thought it would have been hard, almost impossible to top Infinity War, but Endgame provides us with a highly satisfying conclusion to the story, that will definitely satisfy fans of this series. There are some great call-backs to the other films that fans will certainly appreciate.

Endgame has everything you would want, lots of great humour, great action, emotional weight and at its heart its still all about the characters that we have got to know over all these films.

So, I would certainly recommend Endgame, particularly if you’re a fan of this film series, as you will get the most out of it and I would recommend that you at least watch Infinity War before you see this one. As a stand-alone film, Infinity War is probably better, but Endgame is a nonetheless satisfying end and very enjoyable. 5 Stars.
